Making it good is the part that got harder. I’m Richard, a designer in Slovakia who also builds and ships the thing. Ten years on brands, websites and product interfaces, mostly for companies who would rather brief one person than three.

I sit between the business, the developers and the design. That seam is where most projects come apart, and where the interesting problems live.
Hierarchy, spacing and contrast do the explaining. Decoration comes after the thinking, never instead of it.
A beautiful screen that slows someone down has failed. I start with the task, then make the task feel good.
One easing curve. One aligned baseline. One sensible default. None of them matter alone. Together they are the difference between trust and doubt.

Brand identity and social templates, then a twenty-page site and the ordering system behind it. Customers pick electricity or gas and move through a multi-step form with live validation and pricing, so nobody has to call anyone to switch supplier.

Full brand identity, then the site design, then the site itself. Hiring was the pain point: every new opening used to mean a developer ticket. It now runs on a custom CMS where the team posts a role and it is live in a minute.

A clinic that reads calm, not clinical.
The whole site end to end: design, every word on it, and a CMS the team runs without me. Structured content types and page templates an editor cannot break, plus AI guidance so whatever they publish next still sounds like the same clinic.
A whole company, drawn from a blank file.
Logo, palette, typography, then the marketing site and the component library the internal trading dashboard was built from. The system also had to survive real life: campaign banners, newsletters, brochures, print catalogues.
A serious brand, made legible again.
A facelift, not a teardown. The mark and the visual system got sharpened and written into a brand manual precise enough to build from, then a new website to prove it worked. Print carried the same rules onto paper.
A careers page people finish reading.
The careers landing page and the job detail template for the largest electronics retailer in Slovakia, designed through Dexfinity. Every opening runs on the same layout, so a listing reads the same whether it is a shop assistant or a developer.

What I actually do
Plenty of good companies run on tools that work and that nobody likes. Moving them across is most of my job. Same business, same numbers, a face people trust.
Functional. Inherited. Nobody’s proud of it.

Freelance, in-house at a startup, inside a studio. I have been on every side of the handover, so I know exactly what breaks when it goes badly.
The work runs from a single banner to a whole platform, and these days I build most of it as well as design it. The method does not change: understand the business, respect the constraint, make the result look easy.
